In 1961, a school was opened in the city of Malmyzh, designed to introduce children to one of the most beautiful types of arts - music. The formative years were very difficult. However, thanks to the purposefulness, dedication, excellent organizational skills of the director GD Rodygina, a business creative atmosphere was created at the school - an atmosphere of "creation". Along with the piano class, the button accordion class also opens. The team is replenished with new wonderful teachers who have made an invaluable contribution to the education of young musicians. For many years, the permanent leader of the school was Lev Grigorievich Khristolyubov, a great enthusiast of music education, creator and experienced leader. Over the years, the team of teachers grew and improved, the number of students expanded, new classes were opened. This made it possible to more fully implement the best ideas and ideas born in the team. So in 1968 a domra class was opened (teacher Izmest'eva V.P.), and in 1977 - a branch of wind instruments (teacher Chekhonin V.M.). merit of Borisov Vitaly Anatolyevich, school director since 1989, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. In 1989, with the employment of the Russian S.N., the department of choreography was opened, and the children's music school was renamed into the Malmyzh children's school of arts.

Since 2002, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Dubrovina has been holding the post of school director. In 2011, the Malmyzh children's art school of the Kirov region was named after the famous Vyatka musician Solomon Borisovich Sakhar, who lived in Malmyzh during the years of repression.

Currently, the school is headed by Nadezhda Nikolaevna Shishkina. The school successfully operates classes of specialties: piano, button accordion, wind instruments, choreography. Students are engaged in a choir, a brass band, a vocal ensemble and two choreographic groups.

Pedagogical collectives perform with invariable success on the stages of the city: the vocal ensemble "September", the ensemble of accordionists "Surprise" and the duet of pianists "Elegy".

Today the school retains its best traditions: to work with full dedication for the prosperity of its native city, to give its knowledge to children with love, to keep up with the times, to conduct cultural and educational activities.

It is impossible not to recall the names of the teachers, whose work shaped the creative image of the school and brought it well-deserved fame. This is T.Yu. Kolchina and N.N.Borisova - teachers of the piano class; N.V. Tolmacheva, who has brought up more than one generation of musicians. All of them generously shared their knowledge and talent with their students, teaching them to love great things - music.

Over the 55 years of its existence, the school has trained and graduated from its doors more than 2,000 students, many of whom continued their education in secondary and higher educational institutions and became professional musicians, working in various cities of Russia, as well as abroad.

Most of the teaching staff working now are pupils of the school and continue to implement with dignity those wonderful beginnings that were laid by the founders of our educational institution. The educational institution conducts educational activities in the following specialties: piano, trumpet, saxophone, button accordion, choreography; has a qualified pedagogical staff with the highest category - 10 teachers, the first - 2 teachers, the title of Honored Worker of the Kirov region - 1 teacher, departmental awards, equipped material and technical base - equipped premises, concert instruments and modern equipment, developed information and communication technologies.

The school conducts educational activities in accordance with the license and implements additional educational programs of artistic and aesthetic orientation, as well as additional pre-professional general educational programs in the field of musical art: "Piano", "Choreographic Art", "Folk Instruments".

To implement the statutory goals, the school has the right to provide paid additional educational services that go beyond the educational programs financed from the budget, under contracts with individuals.

In addition to educational activities, the team of teachers and students conducts active concert activities among students of kindergartens, educational schools and the population of the city and region.

For more than 10 years, the interregional children's competition "Constellation" has been very popular, in which more than 500 young talented musicians and dancers take part. Soloists and creative teams from neighboring districts of the Kirov region, the Republic of Tatarstan and Mari El are taking part in the competition.

In 2016, the Malmyzh children's art school of the Kirov region named after S.B. Sahara celebrated its 55th anniversary.
