The piano department has existed in the Malmyzh Children's Art School since the day of its foundation. The first director to open the school, GD Rodygina, was the first piano teacher. Over the 55 years of the school's existence, at the department at different times wonderful musicians-pianists worked: Melnikova G.A., Koifman N.I., Yakimov V.M., Sushintseva A.P., Odintsova L.G., Afonasova L.N. ., Merinova T.V., Bragina N.A., Zhukova T.V., Kolchina T.Yu., Borisova N.N. Each of these teachers brought a piece of their individuality into the work of the school. Currently, the piano department is represented by I.A.Maryina, G.M. Yakupova.

Teachers pay great attention to their professional growth. They study on refresher courses, attend seminars, master classes, lessons of colleagues, conduct open lessons. With great interest, teachers are introducing various innovative programs and methods into their work. Together with their students, they take part in competitions and festivals of piano music at school, cluster and regional levels.

The teachers of the piano department are sensitive to the traditions of the classical piano school, combining them with modern trends, organize and conduct extracurricular activities. The department always has a spirit of creativity.

The piano department is today the most numerous among the instrumental departments. In addition to urban children, children from many villages in the region study at our school. Many students, along with their main instrument - the piano, successfully master the synthesizer or learn pop singing.

The teachers of the piano department educate true music lovers, literate listeners of concerts, and the most talented are prepared for admission to specialized secondary and higher educational institutions of music.
